Bactine MAX is an over-the-counter first-aid antiseptic and pain-relieving spray for external use. Its labeled active ingredients are 4% lidocaine HCl, a topical pain reliever, and 0.13% benzalkonium chloride, a first-aid antiseptic.

Labeled uses

This product is intended as first aid to help prevent bacterial contamination or skin infection and to provide temporary relief from pain and itching associated with minor cuts, scrapes, minor burns, sunburn, and minor skin irritations.

Warnings

Ask a doctor before use for deep or puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns. Do not use in or near the eyes. Do not apply over large areas, in large quantities, on raw surfaces, or on blistered areas. Stop use and ask a doctor if the condition worsens, lasts more than seven days, or clears and then returns within a few days. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, obtain medical help or contact a Poison Control Center promptly.

Directions

Adults and children 2 years and older: clean the affected area and apply a small amount 1–3 times daily. If covering the area with a sterile bandage, allow it to dry first. For children under 2 years, ask a doctor. Avoid excessive heat during storage.
